Summer was donated by Ken and Sally Schnettler in 2026.
Summer is named from William Shakespeare's most popular play "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
She lived with the Schnettlers' at least ten years and before that, she came from a farm that bred mini's for service animals. Mini horses are considered for service animals as they can live 15-20 years longer than a dog and still be small in stature. They are also incredibly intelligent.
She has never been ridden nor pulled a wagon as she has always been a pet and part of the family. Summer can roam the farm without a fence or tether yet comes to you if she knows she will get a scratch. This makes her the perfect partner for our reading program as she will follow the children anywhere and encourages them to read by making reading fun.
