Precious

Precious was donated in 2025 when her young owner had an opportunity for a new adventure. She was used primarily in 4h shows in the competition classes such as poles and barrel racing.

When Precious first came to Courage Rock, it took almost her entire 30 day trial period before she finally checked all the boxes to become part of the program. She was perfect for all the games and objects, however she was not comfortable in the barn getting ready nor wanted to leave the gate in the arena. With patience and consistency, she made the program and is one of the best horses used for the Therapeion program due to her willingness and size. We are so happy she excepted her new routine.

Precious is blind in her left eye. It is believed to be moon blindness and she has had it prior to her donors ownership. Equine recurrent uveitis – also known as moon blindness, recurrent iridocyclitis, or periodic ophthalmia – is an acute, nongranulomatous inflammation of the uveal tract of the eye, occurring commonly in horses of all breeds, worldwide. The causative factor is not known, but several pathogeneses have been suggested.

Her blindness doesn't make her any different than the other horses. Her senses let her know when you approach her from the left.

Her best barn buddy is Chevy and she too loves peppermints.
