Indian Run "Indian"

Indian came to the Rock in 2025 and was donated to the program because of her quiet gentle nature and she needed another career.

Indian was bred to race and she was originally purchased for $170,000.00  Indian Run raced until 2013. She was sired by Indian Charlie out of the Gone West mare Runnin Ute. She was trained by Steven M. Asmussen and raced for , and was bred in Kentucky,  by Catherine J. Parke. Indian Run has raced at Churchill Downs.  Her career earned $27,551 in winnings with 3 starts, one win and a third place.

Trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen and ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr., Indian Run raced under the ownership of Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC.

Racing Highlights:

• June 27, 2013 – Churchill Downs: Indian Run made her debut in a Maiden Special Weight race, finishing fifth and gaining valuable experience on the iconic track.

• July 24, 2013 – Horseshoe Indianapolis: She showcased her potential by securing a victory in a Maiden Special Weight race, earning a speed figure of 72.

• September 14, 2013 – Churchill Downs: Competing in an Allowance Optional Claiming race, Indian Run achieved a commendable third-place finish with a speed figure of 79.

Indian was then sold for breeding and although she foaled some beautiful babies, she was not able to carry her last few, so she was generously donated to Courage Rock as she still has a full life and wasn't ready for the full retirement.

Since coming to the Rock, she has found a new friend with Pawnee and they almost look like twins and can be hard to tell apart when together.
